The Collaborative Law Institute of Georgia (CLIG) was founded by a group of professionals who believed that the collaborative process would be beneficial to the clients they served.  The Institute is committed to the development and growth of an inter-disciplinary network of Collaborative professionals, and the promotion of collaborative legal services for consumers.

CLIG looked for a process that would counteract the “flight or fight” instinct, a voluntary process to hold us in a good faith, non-escalating, honest search for appropriate solutions.  The goal was to find a way to approach conflict in a manner which would not immediately polarize and trigger the usual denials and defenses.  Collaborative Practice offers such a process and approach.

Membership in the Georgia Institute includes lawyers, mental health and financial professionals.  Members have training in the collaborative process, adhere to the Standards of Conduct, and practice within the framework of the Collaborative Participation Agreements.  The Institute advocates the advantages and availability of collaborative practice and publishes a list of member professionals. Members of CLIG are also members of The International Academy of Collaborative Professionals (IACP).
